About the Director, Mobile Search role: Are you interested in leading a Product Management team that manages the development of exciting new wireless search applications? Do you have an entrepreneurial drive and the willingness to succeed based on the quality of your initiative? The Director will work within cross-functional teams; Executive (strategy/mission), Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Legal and will provide expert input on application strategy, competitive landscape, technological trends, product requirements and business priorities. The Director owns all aspects of the product lifecycle including strategy, offering definition, pricing, promotion and performance tracking and evaluation. Responsibilities include leading a team developing the product line business plan (includes both products and content), MRDs and PRDs for each product, competitive analysis, ongoing analysis of P&L, support of business development, content licensing and sales activities and creation of Market Introduction Plans. Essential Job Duties: Driving the monetization of these products to contribute directly to substantial revenue growth with high margins. Guiding new product initiatives through the new product introduction process including preparation of product vision, project justification and financial forecasts. Managing the product portfolio - including launching new product, scheduling enhancements and identifying products for retirements. Providing strategy and product management support to the Executive team. Conducting comprehensive competitive analyses (i.e., financial, product, technical, legal, usability, market momentum, etc.). Supporting the sales process with product literature, documentation, training and sales support. Reporting & tracking the success of the product offering against stated objectives and revenue forecasts. Required Skills, Education & Experience: MBA is strongly preferred, BS is required. Candidates must have excellent track records in each of these areas: Must have led a team before - preferably of direct reports. Excellent communicator, with experience leading a large, indirect virtual/matrix team. Previous wireless data or mobile carrier Product Mgmt experience is highly desired. Experience forming a Product team, preferably in a start-up, is required. Experience managing complex partnerships is required. Strong past contributions in internet search or yellow pages is highly desired. New product launch experience end-to-end is required. Experience in a disciplined New Product Introduction methodology. Excellent analytic and technical skills; able to communicate them effectively. 7+ years experience in developing and bringing new wireless data or internet products to market. IMPORTANT: We have seen a lot of candidates with mobile experience pertaining to mobile "network products" – things like VoIP and international roaming, etc. What we are actually searching for is someone who has experience with product management of mobile "software products" – mobile applications like ring tones or mobile web sites. We have found that these categories can be very different and are not often transferable. So again, we need to focus on the candidates with mobile software product experience.
